How do I get started with Zen Buddhism?

There are many ways to enter Zen practice. We encourage beginners and newcomers to come to Sunday services to check us out. We offer Beginner's Orientation once a month (see below for details). In addition, four times a year a beginner's meditation course is offered. On the first Saturday of each month (except in August) a half-day retreat is held, so practitioners can spend time deepening their practice. Members are offered weekly interviews with the teacher as well. All are welcome to call with questions and concerns related to their meditation experience.
Beginner's Orientation

Held on the third Sunday
of every month
Noon - 12:30 pm

While public services are designed with beginners in mind, we also offer this time every month to newcomers who may have questions about everything from meditation practice to temple etiquette. Please note that you do not have to attend this orientation before coming to any of our public services.
